Hope Forward Strategies, LLC provides senior-level advisory services in health equity and public health science and practice, centered on evidence generation and application, to leaders working in organizational strategy, implementation, and transformation in complex environments.
Our Founder
As former Chief Science Officer for Health Equity at CDC, Dr. Ana Penman-Aguilar spent more than two decades shaping health equity and public health science and practice, advising senior leaders through organizational transformation, politically charged environments, and public health emergencies.
Selected career highlights include:
- Key architect of CDC's Principles of Health Equity Science for Public Health Action, applied as a rigorous standard across all of CDC
- Co-led development of CDC's Health Equity Intervention and Action Principles and its Guiding Principles for Inclusive Communication
- Led the first CDC-wide effort to identify cross-cutting social determinants of health measures for routine use
- Oversaw the first comprehensive federal report on Hispanic and Latino health, which received the 2015 CDC Honor Award for Health Equity
- In 2024–25, represented CDC on the HHS workgroup implementing the most significant overhaul of federal race and ethnicity data standards since 1997
- Disseminated health equity principles to health leaders serving more than 30 nations
- Quoted (as CDC health disparities expert) by BBC, USA Today, US News & World Report, and others
